Our History

Established in 1995, Lakeland Service Center was one of the first shops locally owned and operated by family in the McHenry area. Owner Richard Nugent started with his fascination with cars when he was ten years old trying to ride a scooter without a motor. Richard then found an electric motor and plugged it into his garage and road in circles for hours. That is when the fascination began to want to make things run better, faster, and to build his own motors. Richard is very well known in the community, he also tries to help out wherever he can, he is not just a mechanic but also a friend to all of his clients! Our greatest team member by far has to be his loving dog Daisey, as she greets everyone at the door to make sure she gets a treat!

Our specialties are minor and major repairs & factory scheduled maintenance on most import and domestic vehicles. It is a rare occurrence that we would have to turn somebody away for owning a vehicle we cannot or will not service. Some examples of the cars/trucks we routinely work on include but are not limited to Land Rover, Subaru, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, GMC, Chrysler, Chevy, Ford, Oldsmobile, Saab, Hyundai and their domestic counterparts and foreign vehicles are more than welcome here and so much more, we do not just fix cars and trucks.
